Robert Finch

I have been printmaking for ten years and after trying most forms of image creation I have mainly settled on lino printing as I find it a versatile and adaptable medium. I do occasionally use collagraph, dry point and etching. I still find pulling the paper off the inked plate an exciting and (largely) rewarding experience.

Caroline Stow

I am a print maker with a lovely home studio in the heart of Kendal which I will be sharing with fabulous fellow printer, Robert Finch.

This year I have been undertaking an artists residency at Rookhow Quaker Centre in the Rustland valley and developing new work in response, some of which will be on show.

Mat Butler

My art is just influenced by observation of the world around me, the complexity and chaos of nature and its interaction with man-made environments. As one of the founders of the arts charity Space2Create, I am also interested in the use of creativity to support the recovery of individuals with mental health issues. I paint mainly in oils as well as printmaking.

Cheryl Hitchcock

I live in Kendal and have a studio on the Market Place along with several other artists. When I’m out walking, I take photographs to gather material, then develop ideas through sketches in the studio. Although in the past I've worked mostly in pastel, watercolour or acrylic, I’ve recently started reduction linocut printmaking.

Ciara Rose

I paint and sculpt journeys, gathering images, sounds and objects I then use to reflect and produce a personal map of time and place. I am especially interested in movement, pattern and rhythm within the external and internal.

I work in stoneware and my pots range from sculptural pieces to planters, really, whatever catches my interest.

Frances Winder

I have a fine art degree and teacher's diploma, working in Manchester and later in Cumbria. I worked at McCann Erickson as an illustrator and designer for several years. Now I paint full time and have exhibited in galleries in London and NW England.

I love colour, mood and atmosphere and prefer a loose, expressive style that shows more than just the place. I enjoy experimenting, searching for ways to express emotions and feelings through abstraction. I like to share my love of life and the world in all its aspects.

Dave Sharps

My work is mainly inspired by the beautiful landscape of Cumbria and the coastal scenery and islands of Scotland. Through mixed media and a variety of printmaking techniques I explore the experience of being on the fells, of walking in the valleys and along the coast.  I have recently produced a series of collagraphs and drypoint prints that explore the rhythm of the Cumbria and Scottish islands, focusing on shape, line and pattern. A trip last year to the dolomites has inspired me to produce a series of collagraph prints using contrasting colour schemes.

Kevin Brown

I am essentially a self-taught watercolourist and printmaker, I paint mostly landscapes, with a particular interest in mountains and derelict buildings, occasionally painting atmospheric paintings of steam locomotives. I have had work accepted for the Laing Landscape competition and the Royal Watercolour Society open exhibition at the Bankside Gallery in London.

In my latest work I use black or indigo watercolour combined with ink and charcoal. This has been inspired by my love of etchings and black and white photography. It allows a large contrast between light and dark, creating atmosphere and texture in the finished image.

I have recently started to experiment with Raku firing using wood, seaweed and banana skins as combustibles.
