My work explores the intersection of traditional oil painting techniques and a modern sensibility, with a focus on landscape as both subject and suggestion. I’m drawn to the fleeting, atmospheric moments found in nature—those subtle shifts in light, mood, and form—and I aim to capture them through a process that balances observation with abstraction.

Painting en plein air allows me to respond directly to the landscape, working alla prima to maintain immediacy and freshness. I use harmonious colour palettes, strong darks, and soft edges to evoke light and space without relying on overt detail. My brushwork remains loose and expressive, often suggesting rather than describing, inviting the viewer to engage with the work through feeling rather than analysis.

In both my more representational and abstracted pieces, I strive to convey a sense of calm and presence. My goal is not to replicate nature precisely, but to distil its essence—its rhythm, atmosphere, and emotional impact—into paint. I want each piece to be a quiet moment, captured and shared.
