Rosie creates in paintings, experimental photo based work and theatre boxes mysterious spaces where dramas are played out. Her work moves between the abstract and the figurative. Stories told, places visited and imagined, memories lost in time, dreams of futures barely glimpsed, sign and symbol. There is always a joy in the materials used: paint in rich colours, the glimmer of gold, the sharp delineations of graphic marks and mirrored forms; and the excitement of the push pull of the process, seeking to capture and hold these transient shadows.
After many years living abroad (Russia, Pakistan, Brazil, Argentina), she has been happily settled near Kendal for twenty years. She has worked as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Art and Design at (formerly) St. Martin’s College in Lancaster, and organised the very well received Kendal based art fair ArtFest North with fellow artist Tina Balmer in 2013 and 2016 and ran Gallery 68 in Ulverston with her from 2018 till 2022.
