My creative background is in vintage furniture restoration, but I suddenly woke up one morning about a year after moving to Kendal and felt an overwhelming call to create paintings. Maybe it's the Cumbrian air!
Perhaps it's also that I hail from an artistic family, indeed my brother Christopher E. Fry is a life-long professional painter. As an 'emerging' artist, painting does make me feel as though I've left a dark cave and come out into bright light. And several years of living in the dramatic light of Australia seems to have left me with an enduring love of rich colours.
I favour a fairly loose and expressive style, and usually work with acrylics to create romantic, moody interpretations of landscapes and nature. I'm slightly obsessed with seascapes and stormscapes, as I love and fear the wild ocean in equal measure.
