My work has been inspired by my travels round the world and the cities, landscapes and gardens that I have visited. Patterns, shapes and repetition found in the natural and artificial world intrigue me and I aim to interpret this in my landscapes and cityscapes. I love colour and am influenced, amongst others, by the Scottish Colourists and Barbara Rae.
My studio at Farfield Mill near Sedbergh in the Yorkshire Dales is set in the midst of magnificent countryside with an endless source of inspiration just outside the door.
I often work outside, experiencing the changing skies, weather and seasons. I will often further develop these paintings in the studio to capture the changing moods, colour and light of these dramatic landscapes.
I love flowers, both growing them and painting them and my own garden has been a labour of love for the past 20 years and a great source of inspiration for my painting.
I paint in mixed media and many of my paintings are reproduced as limited edition giclee prints and greeting cards. I have exhibited in London, Manchester, Amsterdam and New York and my work is regularly on show throughout galleries in the North West of England.
